Trading title provenance desk

A championship placing, an editorial title and a personal account return are three different claims. Preserve their source, year and scope.

The issuing body matters

The 2023 Trading World Champion title belongs to this publication's own award record. The 2025 World Cup Trading Championships are a separate competition. A profile can discuss both, but one cannot certify the other. Verify the organiser, division, date and published placing before writing a headline.

A worked attribution example

For Darren O'Neill, the 2025 WCTC Annual Forex result is fourth place at 168%. The Q3 Forex division is fifth at 65.9%, and the October Monthly Forex division is first at 59.35%. The 294% figure is an aggregate across those entered divisions, not the Annual Forex result. His audited 2023 personal return of 178% and 2024 personal return of 94% belong to a different record series.

How to read a champion profile

Look for source documents, an explicit measurement period, risk and drawdown, and whether a result is independently administered or self-published. Where an organiser posts a table, treat that table as evidence for the placing only. It does not automatically audit a trader's lifetime record or future signal service.

Scope: This checklist is an editorial provenance aid, not a certification of any trader. See original competition records for final wording.
